With a large part of the global production of personal protective equipment (PPE) happening in the United States and China, much of Europe is experiencing a major PPE shortage, putting millions of lives at risk. In order to combat the shortage, the Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW) is partnering with Gerber Technology to make PPE more widely available. Through their PPE Task Force, Gerber has already helped over 1,200 manufacturers across the globe successfully convert their manufacturing capabilities to PPE production.

Continuing to support the alleviation of global shortage of medical and consumer personal protective equipment (PPE), Gerber Technology is now empowering manufacturers to accelerate PPE production by offering a PPE Retooling Package. The package includes an end-to-end suite of software and a specially configured PPE Edition Gerber Paragon® cutter with optimized cutting parameters that allow manufacturers to produce up to 150,000 medical gowns and 6 million non-medical masks per week. The package also includes PPE patterns, tech packs, and a regulatory consulting package for rapid conversion of conventional sewn goods production to PPE. The Gerber PPE Retooling Package will help manufacturers seamlessly convert their supply chain allowing them to quickly, efficiently, and sustainably manufacture quality PPE.

Who was the consumer before Covid-19? It helps to think of the consumer, country-agnostic, in one of four buckets: aspirational luxury consumers, those to whom price is no object, affordable luxury consumers, those who cannot afford the highest-end brands but can afford the often or occasional purchase of higher-end goods, mid-tier customers, those who generally purchase from fast fashion retailers, and discount consumers, those who are financially challenged in the best of economic times. Within these buckets purchasing patterns differ by geography but largely western consumers tend to have similar purchasing patterns.

Gerber Technology and 3DLOOK, The Body Data Platform are proud to announce their partnership and integration to offer a fully-connected, digital remote supply chain experience. In a retail world in which fit is essential and working remotely due to the COVID-19 situation is the new normal, this partnership will facilitate consumers receiving personalized, high-quality garments by leveraging a fully connected, on-demand workflow.

COVID-19 represents an unprecedented challenge for the world, requiring everybody to work together. In response, Gerber Technology created a Global PPE Task Force and has since brought together more than 600 manufacturers, technology partners, and industry coalition partners to make PPE products available broadly around the world.
